At the United Nations Global Dialogue on AI Governance in Geneva, global business leaders issued a joint statement emphasizing that inclusive adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI) is critical to achieving sustainable development, economic growth, and shared prosperity. The statement highlights that while access to AI technologies is important, realizing AI’s full potential requires strong foundations in digital infrastructure, skills development, data accessibility, governance frameworks, and local innovation ecosystems that enable meaningful participation in the emerging AI economy.
The business community reaffirmed its commitment to investing in digital infrastructure, workforce training, AI literacy, cloud and computing capacity, and locally relevant AI solutions. The statement further calls on governments to foster enabling policy environments through public-private collaboration, interoperable governance frameworks, expanded access to data and computing resources, and support for startups and SMEs. By strengthening these foundational pillars, stakeholders can ensure that the benefits of AI are accessible to businesses, communities, and individuals across all regions, particularly in developing and least developed countries.
